CONFIRMATION

"Let us spare no effort in the formation of our young people"

"To help our young people to discover the courage and joy of faith, the joy of being loved personally by God, is very difficult.
But when young people understand it, when young people experience it through the anointing of the Holy Spirit,
this ‘being personally loved by God’ accompanies them for the rest of their lives.”

(Pope Francis at the Cathedral of St Sebastian in Rio de Janeiro on July 27, 2013)

Confirmation Classes are for High School Youth and will begin September 18, 2023

Our goal is to prepare students to be active participants in the life of the Church through prayer, fellowship, and service.

Preparation for Confirmation begins the day you Baptize your child as you and your child grow together in Faith. Once your child reaches the age of five you and your child should be enrolled in our Family Faith Formation Program. Upon completing the 8th grade Faith Formation program they will begin formal education for Confirmation a two year process. There is a minimum of two years of formal education before being Confirmed at St. Matthew.

The program we use for Confirmation preparation is "Chosen, Your Journey to Confirmation" by Ascension Press.

Those pursuing Confirmation will encounter Christ, grow in their relationship with and knowledge of Christ, and serve others! We offer this Sacrament to all teenagers who are entering 8th grade (and up) and will to commit their lives in Christ! In the sacrament of Confirmation, we are anointed with the sacred chrism and sealed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Confirmation is necessary for the completion of the graces we receive at Baptism.
