Mural of the Saints

The term "saints" in Christianity refers to those individuals who are recognized for their exceptional holiness, virtue, and dedication to God and the Church. Saints are venerated as role models and intercessors for the faithful, and they hold a special place in the spiritual life of believers.

In the Catholic Church, saints are formally canonized through a process that involves investigating their life, virtues, and the miracles attributed to their intercession. Once a person is canonized, they are officially recognized as a saint, and their feast day is celebrated annually on the liturgical calendar.

There are different categories of saints in Christian tradition, including:

1. Martyrs: Saints who were persecuted and died for their faith.

2. Confessors: Saints who lived a life of heroic virtue but were not martyred.

3. Doctors of the Church: Saints who made significant theological contributions to the Church.

4. Patron Saints: Saints who are considered special intercessors for specific groups, professions, or causes.

In addition to the formal process of canonization, there are also many individuals known as "saints" in popular devotion or local veneration who have not been officially canonized by the Church. These individuals are still recognized for their holiness and are often honored on a local or cultural level.

The saints are revered for their exemplary lives, dedication to God, and their ability to inspire and guide believers in their own spiritual journey. Many believers seek the intercession of saints in prayer, asking for their help, guidance, and protection in times of need. Saints are seen as spiritual companions and helpers on the journey towards holiness and union with God.

The work began on the evening of August 17, 2024 with a sketch of the entire mural on the wall. Fr. O'Brien stopped down on August 18, 2024 and gave Paul O'Neill (the artist) a Blessing on the work he has begun. But as you can see in the Rays of Light coming down upon Paul a greater Blessing came from above.
