Safe Environment Training & Fingerprinting

The Diocese of Orlando is committed to doing everything in its power to ensure the safety of all those entrusted to its care, particularly children, the elderly, and the disabled. We believe that each individual is created in the image of God and must be treated with dignity and respect. Therefore, the Diocese of Orlando considers any abuse or neglect of any kind to be totally unacceptable and contrary to Christian principles. To ensure this safety, individuals participating in certain ministries are required to have a background check completed, be fingerprinted, and complete the Diocesan “Safe Environment Training.” All of these are called for in the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

All church personnel and volunteers working with children, vulnerable populations, or dealing with finances must complete safe environment training in addition to a background/fingerprint clearance. In order to fulfill the safe environment training requirements, you must watch the 20-minute video “Protecting Our Youth” and then subsequently complete the on-line quiz, which consists of 13 questions.
